We Are Temporarily Closed . . .
Effective midnight, March 16, 2020 through May 31.
The health and safety of our community is our top priority, and as the impact of COVID-19 continues to change our world, the Decatur Makers Board and Staff made the decision to temporarily close our makerspace, effective midnight, March 16 through May 31 at which time we will reevaluate our next steps.
As an organization, we have been working to find a way to be able to operate safely and responsibly so that we can support our creative community. But, at this point, following federal and state government recommendations, we no longer believe that is possible while keeping our physical makerspace open. Stay tuned for potential virtual experiences to keep our community connected! Members will be able to pick up projects and materials; Please email [email protected] to coordinate a time with staff.
The City of Decatur has shared this article as a guide to staying safe while contributing to the success of our local businesses. An additional note, if you’re in the position to do so: All local non-profits could use your financial support right now to help with their mission work as well as support staff and their families. With a donation in any amount (no amount too small), you would make the day of your favorite non-profit during these tough times. If that’s Decatur Makers, you can click here, and know we’ll be high-fiving you from our home computers.
Please take good care and wash your hands! We look forward to offering the creative expression and inspirational learning that comes with building, sharing and exploring in our makerspace again soon.
Warmly,
The Decatur Makers team
