Decatur Makers’ greatest asset is our community of makers and they are excited to share their expertise through classes and workshops!
Decatur Makers offers three levels of classes:

Training classes are open to current members, so that they may gain the skills and pass the safety checks to earn full access to machines in the shop. Current Training Classes include: Woodshop Orientation, Woodshop Power Tools, Woodshop Dimensioning Tools, Wood Lathe 101, Metal Mill 101, Metal Lathe 101, Introduction to Metal Fabrication, Glowforge Safety Check, Bronte/Thunder Laser Safety Check, CNC Hands-On Training, 3D Printing101/201/301, and more! Specialty Classes
Specialty Classes are individual fee based classes that are open to both members and the public. Decatur Makers hosts teachers who provide their instruction and materials in a variety of skill based workshops. Some examples of Specialty Classes include: Turning a Bowl on the Wood Lathe, Printmaking with Linocut, Maker Project Management, Plushie Kids Class, and many more! See the Events Calendar for up to date listings! When logged in to the Member Portal, members will receive an automatic 10% discount.
Lifelong Learning Events
Lifelong learning classes are free and open to both members and the public. We have two monthly events currently running. The Arduino/Raspberry Pi Users Group welcomes everyone interested in “tiny computers”, with a focused presentation each month. The Fusion 360: 101- 3D Printing and CNC Toolpaths course introduces attendees to the basics of 3D design in a CAD/CAM program, with a focus on preparing designs for 3D printers and CNC milling machines. See the Events Calendar for more details!
Teach a Class
Got a passion for making something (anything!)? Share it with our community through a class, workshop, or presentation. No experience? We can help with teaching “how to’s.” You can even get paid. Questions? Please send us a note.
Recommend a Class
Are you and/or your child interested in attending a class, workshop, or presentation that’s not on our MeetUp calendar? Please let us know what you’d like to learn about and we’ll do our best to host it!
