International Rescue Committee STEAM events

Over these past several years, our partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has involved many groups of young adult refugees visiting our makerspace to experience hands-on designing, planning, and building. Most recently, in collaboration with a group of engineering students from Georgia Tech, we hosted IRC students who worked in our woodshop, electronics shop, with our laser cutter and other areas to create several projects over several workshops. This culminated in designing and making a Hungry Hungry Hippo-like game that shot magnets into a circle to collect metal coins under pressure of time and competitors! Lots of successes, lots of failures, lots of learning, and lots of fun.
