We are very excited to welcome Irm Diorio as our first paid employee! We have been operating as an all-volunteer startup non-profit for several years. Now, thanks to the generosity of our members and other foundational supporters, we are thrilled to be able to take this important step so quickly.
Irm started as the part-time Associate Director in late April 2016. Her background in communications, education, and nonprofit work, as well as her passion for Decatur Makers and the maker movement will help us continue to grow as an organization, and to have a positive impact on our community.
Irm is spending the first few months on the job working closely with our executive director, Lew Lefton. As part of her half-time position, she will help with finances (including fundraising and grant writing), communication, membership management, developing classes, and helping to get our space more operational and organized. Her overall goal is to help our larger community get more value from the space.
