We are thrilled to announce that George Breeden has accepted our offer to be the Makerspace Manager for Decatur Makers! Beginning on August 1, 2020, he will be working closely with our Executive Director, Irm Diorio, in furthering our mission of empowering all people to learn and create with hands-on experiences that positively impact their lives and our communities.
Although he’s now taking on this new role, George has been a very active and engaged member and volunteer at Decatur Makers since he joined in September 2017; He’s taught our Woodshop 101 class, stepped up consistently to support members with making their projects and using our equipment, helped out with numerous youth Outreach events, led the builds of several projects for community partners, joined our Board of Directors in June 2019, volunteered for many community events, and has generally been an outstanding ambassador of Decatur Makers.
With his positive and collaborative spirit, passion for making, innovative thinking, and willingness to share and learn, he brings so much to this new role. As a respected and well-liked member of our organization, he is the perfect fit to assist with the upcoming projects and initiatives we have planned to continue moving the organization forward, even during the Covid pandemic.
We thank George for all of his hard work to-date in support of Decatur Makers, and look forward to the impact he’ll be making as the new Makerspace Manager!
