Recently we had a “Punkin’ Party” where we did a variety of pumpkin related activities including 3D carving, pumpkin smashing, and Arduino based LED lighting. We had a great turn out, including lots of kids. So much hard work went into the pumpkins, and as usual, the creativity of the Decatur Makers community was nothing short of astounding. We’re still in the process of collecting all the photos, but whats below should give you an idea of how much fun it is to hang out with Decatur Makers!
We also had a big bump in our Kickstarter campaign directly following the party. In the last 24 hours we have seen about $800 in pledges roll in. At the party we asked everyone to do two things for us; one: back our Kickstarter and two: share our campaign on Facebook and Twitter (or however they can). The campaign ends at midnight on October 31. We’re putting out an all hands on deck plead to help us ‘smash’ our goal by Thursday, October 30th.
Carving our pumpkins
The best part (for me at least) was seeing all the kids having so much fun. I almost forgot how awesome it is to stick your hand inside a pumpkin and pull the gross stuff out. Here were just a few of the amazing creations that the kids came up with!
The final products
Here are most (but not all) of the final pumpkins! Stay tuned for more.
We also had a pumpkin smashing pit where the kids destroyed the remaining pumpkins! Here is a bit of the fun!
Thanks everyone who participated!
