In the two months since we started our bi-monthly Community Meetings, we’ve moved from talking at the Decatur Rec Center to collaborating at the Decatur Maker space! What perfect progress in the making.
And with Maker Faire Atlanta just around the corner, Oct 4/5, our community has been stepping up at these meetings to help out with our multiple projects:
1) Helping the Little Shop of Stories to morph their bus into a mobile library. Added on an awning with weather stripping, window decor, and more. Altho it was ready for the Decatur Book Festival, this roaming project will get more help before the Maker Faire.
2) Building our own Rubens tube that will sit inside a large metal drum. After an enlightening demo of one tube, our team has been crafting one from scratch. The metal drum will buffer the flames from wind.
4) Making human-sized foozball table. Still brainstorming best and most cost-efficient wall scenario, this project is in the proto-typing stage.
5) Stabilizing our banner stand. With a new vinyl banner in hand, a new pvc stand needs to be brainstormed and built.
Thanks so much to all our Decatur Makers who’ve been out to join us! We’ll need loads more help to be prepared for the Maker Faire and will keep you posted on our making meetings over these last few weeks.
